Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders are a new spectrum of diseases with an old history. Many causes of eosinophilic infiltration of the gut have long been recognized. Most of these conditions are autoimmune or primary eosinophilic disorders. The focus of this review is the role of food allergy in the pathophysiology of eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders.
